16th September 2006 : feux d'artifice français
Ths shot is of the French display at the World Fireworks Championships in Blackpool (tower sort of gives it away), this display was a little later than usual due to high winds and nearly got called off. The French display was great to photograph but I actaully prefered the Italian display last week. Funny though as I didnt get as many decent shots of the Itailan display. It was a colder night than last week, and this week myself and Dave (Chromasia) didnt end up getting stranded!. We did return to the wrecks at Fleetwood for some longer star trails, this turned out to be a bit of a let down as the moon just wasnt strong enough and we didnt want to wait till the middle of the night.
I have a few more shots of the display and a couple from an outing eariler in the day I may post.

Awasome fireworks shot. The only thing that kind of bothers me is the green reflection...but hey...nothing could be done. Beautiful picture

Great light. The pier and tower lights are wonderful. I wish the fireworks had a little more color.

NIce picture, no noise,
did you do a lot of postprocessing after ?
paflechien on 18th September 2006 @ 2:38pm
there are so many different elements that are working together on this shot. i like the photo :)
armeen on 18th September 2006 @ 2:46pm
I used dxo for post processing the raw files, which has a noise module, although the noise wasnt bad at all. The worst thing to correct was barrel distortion, shot at 10mm and the horizon being low.

Oh my! Truely awesome, the light, reflection, contrast.. also the place where u were capturing... 10/10
Cheers

understood paul, does Dxo correct hot pixel & dead pixel too ?
Et vive la France (lol) !
paflechien on 18th September 2006 @ 5:44pm
hmm....good question, if it is isolated yes it may do so.
paul on 18th September 2006 @ 5:59pm
Hmmm - I see youve got the 10-20 too :) its a great lens. I tend to find if you point the centre at the horizon, theres not a great deal of distortion - though this may be different with so much horizon. wonderful colours, and a stunning composition, Paul.

I usually think firework photos are pretty lame and uninspiring, but I really like this. I think it's because you decided to include a lot of surroundings in the shot. Nice!

Well it seems that the firework championship is been fructfull for you guys, I would love to have some of those fest here on my town. Eventhough it is a night shot it looks so full of different lights. :)
