3rd August 2005 : Frank D Peregory
Its been hectic since I came back so I havent been able to visit many blogs or post many shots. No doubt that will change.
This is a shot I took before the Mont Saint Michel shots during our visit to the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy, taken at Colleville-sur-mer, a huge beautifully maintained Memorial to fallen US soldiers, a humbling experience.
I promised myself I would visit Gold Beach see the beach my grandfather ran up at Arromanches and finally on this trip, I completed that task.
This shot was also submitted for photofridays "somber", one of the reasons I posted it.

This is very beautifull Paul. I've always been very interested in D-Day and everything that happened after. This picture tells a whole story on its own...

Im glad you managed to make the trip your grandad made, i did that too and it was a very weird experience for me. These beaches make me feel very sad, considering the number of lives that were lost there, including the Germans, i think a lot of people forget how many Germans died here too, they seem to be much less well presented as it were.

Lovely picture and great tones. Tastefully depicted

Truly somber. Does this person have any significance to you? Either way, the mood of this photo is terrific--very solemn. The green of the grass and the red roses contrast well enough to make the white cross really the central focus. My eyes wander all around this photo comfortably. Splendid!

Good to see you posting again Paul. I like the off-centre framing here. great choice for the PhotoFriday challenge too.

Nice shot! I really like this one. I think the color can do a bit more brightening. The whole picture looks very quiet but I have a feeling that the color isn't at its perfect condition, yet not so sure where to improve it. It is a very nice one still. I like it.

Kristina : no significance to me personally no, but it was one of a very few that had the engraved text inlayed with gold....being given the medal of honor.

great shot, great saturation on the reds whilst the rest of the shot seems reserved.
