4th July 2005 : The Cage
Crazy busy hell at the moment so I took a break from posting last few days.
This is a shot of "The Cage" at Lyme Park which is south of Stockport in Cheshire, England.
Its like a "Keep", built like a castle and it sits on the hillside with wonderful panoramic views of the north west.
The view on the day was amazing, I could see planes dropping in to landing at both Manchester and Liverpool airports.
I took a good few of the main house which is an amazing place, part of "The National Trust". Just a slight dissapointment in th fact that they had an inflatable arch infront of it ready for an evenings music....never mind..always next visit.
It reminded me of when I visted Washington DC, stood in front of the White House for a shot...and they had a huge Marquee blocking the shot.....bummer.

Nice one, it looks like a fairly bleak place. Got any more detailed shots of the cage?

The b/w works very well with the tree.

Nice effect of scale with this giant tree and the tiny building in the distance!

Spooky ... :-)

Great shot. The only thing I would change is that "thing" on the right edge. Too distracting , and destroys that bleak feeling that other are referring too. B&W is perfect for the subject-matter

Cool, that really looks like its in the middle of nowhere. Nice B+W.
SteveO on 5th July 2005 @ 8:38am
B+W love it. Bleakness love it even more. Great photo.

Wonderful image. I can't help wondering whether a different B&W conversion method may have added more intensity to the sky. Still beautiful whatever.

really like this, both composition and atmosphere. nice play with perspective and shape.

Oooh. A lone tree! You had me at hello, Paul. You had me at hello. ;)

Nice one Paul - great choice on B&W for the subject - nice composition.
ChrisK on 6th July 2005 @ 8:32am
Nice b&w. I like how you've chosen the large scale of the tree makes for a different type of shot.
Ray on 6th July 2005 @ 10:26am
This is very cool, very dramatic. Perfect in B&W.

Nice picture. Reminds me of the cover of "The Joshua Tree" by U2
Navin Harish on 6th July 2005 @ 1:09pm
Fantastic tree. Without the structure, I probably would have imagined the tree to be in Africa.
Ken Zawsum on 6th July 2005 @ 4:35pm
The tree really makes this shot. Nice work on the composition.
Smoove D on 7th July 2005 @ 12:57am
