29th June 2005 : Brick dust
More DIY, not got much in the ready folder apart from a pile of sunsets.
Ive dumped haloscan comments in order to use pixelposts inbuilt comments, this helps as the RSS feed now gets this complete description automatically along with a thumb of the image.
Old comments can be read via the *old* link at the bottom of the page, but this will phase out as soon as I have worked out how to import the CAIF format comments into pixelposts mysql db.
Anyway this is a 22mm SDS Plus drill bit covered in brick dust from drilling holes...made in germany...its a beast.

I like it Paul. The dust detail is very nice. And I think the shadow of the bit really makes it. Without it, it would look a little like a catalogue shot.

I am so ignorant :(. Didn;t understand what this is. Maybe just because of my bad english but, for some reason, for me it looks like some candeler. I think I'll just take it like that. Love the texture.

Wow such a clear and crisp image! It comes out great against the white background. Excellent detail!
Arjan on 29th June 2005 @ 7:24am
Brilliant detail on this Paul - the dust really adds to it - and I'll bet you spent ages putting the bit down on the background without getting dust on the background :)

I was trying to comment the other day and the links to the comments was gone. I guess now I know why! Love the texture of this shot. Rust is so cooool.

Ah screw :P I too like the detail and COMPLETELY agree with the shadow.

those big drill bits are great fun. I could drill holes in things all day with one of those beauties strapped on to my Bosch hammer drill!

Great simple shot Wonderful detail texture and color. Love the contrast between the gritty drill bit and the stark white background.

I like the dust as well. On one criticism, I think the picture is not very interesting as a subject or effect, which I like to see in macro shots (of course this is just my taste). Also, the white reflection is a bit too bright and blurry. Other than that, a great shot.

cool subject. like the detail and color, helps to see different things in different ways like this. I've been stuck for a little while with my own photography. thanks

I know it's a bummer to lose the comments...for now, but for those of us that initially look at your posting via the feed, it's a great improvement over the title only that haloscan offered. The quality of the photograph is as good as ever. Thanks.
